My Paintings
Reflection
What is your project? How did you make it? How long did it take?.I made a three painting series using watercolor paints. It took me all month to do it, but I'd sit down and work on one for about an hour every other day.
What could you have done better on this project?I ended up redoing one of my paintings, and if I had payed more attention the first time I worked on it, I probably wouldn't have had to re-do it.
What are the important elements of your project?Color, value, and form are very important to all of my pieces. In the main piece, I used value to make the arm look three dimensional and color and form to show the balloons and how they were being released into the sky.
What did you learn from this project?I learned that, like the balloons in my paintings, sometimes it's okay to let go of people and ideas. It's not always a bad thing to let go and move on to better things.
Why did you do the project the way you did? Was it planned? What changes did you make?Originally, this project was only supposed to have two paintings. Instead, about halfway through my second painting I decided to add a third. Once I finished the third painting, I realized the first one was very weak and needed to be redone. In the end, my paintings did not come out as planned, but I love the way they came out.

What are the strong parts in your project? What did you do well?I think my use of colors and contrast made the project very strong.
What is the theme/deeper meaning of your project? What is the unity? All of my paintings are tied together with a balloon theme. The first painting is a hand holding a bunch of balloons, getting ready to let them go. The second is three balloons scattered across the sky over a field, and the third one is one lone balloon in a mountain range. I think the theme/unity of my paintings is letting go and learing to fly your own way, even if you're alone.
What are the important principles of your project?Unity is very important to my paintings because there's three paintings in a series, and the same for movement. I also used patterns, with the repetition of the balloons through out the paintings.
Evaluate/list the design process for this project:First I started with a medium sized water color of a red balloon floating in a sky with a green
Was it a worthwhile project?Yes, I learned a lot about time management and how/when to use certain techniques. I also learned how to tie everything together and use unity successfully in my paintings.
