Pinch PotMy pinch pot was very poorly structured. In the beginning of this course I had very little experience with clay, so my first project was very weak. I restarted several times, and ended up making a vessel with a cylindrical form and a slightly worn texture. It has a spout to pour things out of if one choses to do so, and it features a purple glaze with sparkles in it. Other ideas I sketched in my preliminaries were a flower pot, a candle holder that was long and narrow, and a narrow pot with a flower looking opening at the top.
Slab VesselMy slab vessel features silver acrylic paint as the main color, then a carved inset in the front face with mutlicolored acrylic painted designs. My focus of this piece was an asymmetric apperance, and I accoplished this using different heights and lengths for the side pieces and using different colors on the carved pieces. Other ideas I sketched in my preliminaries were a bonsai box for a small japanese tree, a triangular flower holder, and a shallow rectangular bowl.
PotteryI created four pieces of pottery, two bowls, a curvy shaped vase, and a small, spherical shaped vessel.

GargoyleMy gargoyle features an oblong form, a wide mouth, a protruding nose, and closed eyes. I used a black glaze and a silver metallic acrylic paint. I made my gargoyle this way because I used the theme of pain and anguish, and I wanted everything to appear that way from the open mouth, to the closed eyes, to the colors of the paint and glaze. Other ideas I sketched in my preliminaries were a silly face with its tongue sticking out, an alien with antenae, and a surprised face.
Slab SculptureMy slab sculpture did not turn out the way I wanted it too. My intention for my slab sculpture was to be an abstract design that resembled a flower. I wanted the inside to be filled with pieces. The theme of my piece is fragility. My piece resembled a rose, and features a dusty rose colored glaze. Other ideas I sketched in my preliminaries were an abstract piece with curved lines as the main focus, another focused on sharp lines and angles, with lots of vertical pieces, and the last one featured waves and lots of ocean like pieces.
