My Reflection on the Pinch Pot Project
What were the strong parts of my project? The strong parts of my project were that I learned from my mistakes and in the end, I produced a pot with sides that have even thickness, and a design on the outside. It was difficult for me at first, and I had to restart several times. Eventually, I got the hang of it though.
What could I have done better on?I could have made the opening of my pot more round and level on the surface. My pot was uneven at the opening and if I would have made a lid, it would not have been able to stay on the pot. I also need to remember to keep the clay not too wet, otherwise it won't form the shape I want.
The attributes of my pinch pot:My pinch pot is a cylindrical pot, with an abstract opening at the top. It looks similar to a coffee creamer pourer, because it has a spout. My pot has some designs on the side surfaces of it, but they aren't very sharp. I lightly used a sharp tool to draw some lines in it, and slightly smoved them over. All in all, my pot looks similar to an older style pourer.
The texture of my pot:My pot looks soft, but it's not smooth on the surface. It contains lots of natural lines, and it all seems to flow togeteher.

My conlusion of the pinch technique:I think the pinch pot technique is fun, but I myself have lots of room to improve on using it. It's more natural than some of the other techniques that could be used, but it also takes more time to perfect the outer appearance of the pot.
Metacognate: What did I learn that I can apply to later projects?I learned that I need to be patient, and getting what I want out of my clay will take time and possibly having to start over several times. I also learned that I don't need to have to be a master at making a pinch pot in order to make something cool and have fun with it.
Evaluate: What is the meaning of my vessel? My vessel was supposed to be a nice looking cylindrical vase that my mother could put flowers in. Instead, due to my inexperience, my pot is lopsided and not a round circle at the opening, so I made it into a pourer with a spout.
What skills/strategies will I apply to my next project? For my next project I will have to be a lot more patient and slow down when working with my clay. I need to concentrate on keeping my opening even and a round circle. I also need to make sure I use the right amount of water.
